Join us today to plant some sunflower seeds, make a craft, watch a movie, play chess or make a puzzle. There is always plenty to do at the Children’s Room.  Staff is there to help with your school projects too!  Don’t hesitate to ask!  We are gearing up for National Library Week next week and Vacation Week the following week.  During Vacation Week we will have chess instruction, 2 sessions of craft instruction, one involving plush toys and the other with Tshirts, as well as make a recycled project with students from WPI.

Crafty Wednesday Yarn Doll

Join us at Jacob Edwards Library to make a free craft - today is Yarn Doll day

Now that summer is underway, there are times when you may be wondering what to do, why not visit the library? We can offer all kinds of materials to be borrowed, including books, music CDs, the most up to date DVDs, Wii and DS games, computer use and WiFi connection,  and assistance with research to name just a few services.

Additionally, thanks to the support of the Friends of the Jacob Edwards Library, the Southbridge Cultural Council and the Summer Food Service (Project Bread), we can also offer some great programs – A Magic Show with Frank DiMellio (at 11:15 a.m.) and A Concert with Original Compositions from Hunter Foote and Michael Caprera (at 6:30 p.m.) on Thursday this week. Each Wednesday, the staff in the Children’s Room offer a craft making opportunity. Today it is Yarn Dolls. See you at JEL!

Everyone is welcome to stop by and be creative!  If you come each week, you will have a nice collection of handmade crafts to show off! Click here to look at the crafts that will be available through mid-August.

Starting tomorrow, Project Bread will be serving cold lunches to 18 year olds and under. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. you can have a nutritious lunch at the library, while here to get your summer reading materials.
